FINDING OTHER PARTS

If you need a specific part for your computer, the best place to find it is at Sony Direct Accessories. For most parts, you need the part number in order to access the order page.

Sony Direct Accessories is located at: http://servicesales.sel.sony.com/web/productSearch.do

Call Sony Direct customer service to verify part numbers and find parts for your model at: 1-800-488-SONY (7669)

Sony also has a "research form" in which you will receive a response in about three days.

THIRD PARTIES & HARD DRIVES

An excellent third party part seller is Spare Parts Warehouse. They list out many of the factory direct parts that Sony sells at the Direct Accessories site. They also sell higher capacity hard drives.

Here is their Z1 listing: http://www.sparepartswarehouse.com/Sony,Vaio,PCG-Z1,Laptop,Parts.aspx

eBay is a good place to look for replacement parts or even whole units which are broken and can have parts salvaged. See my eBay link on the homepage for an easy all-inclusive Z1 search.

WHICH PART DO YOU NEED?

It is illegal to sell or otherwise distribute the Sony service manual, but I can give you the number for individual parts. Just send me an e-mail for help: maki@vaioz.com.

While many parts seem to be universal, some are specific to the model. I currently only have access to model-specific information for high-end units, such as the U.S. W models and equivalent international models (such as X**).
